Case Study
Project Overview
Theatr Clwyd, a renowned cultural venue in North Wales, is committed to delivering high-quality performances and facilities. As part of their focus on security and operational efficiency, Theatr Clwyd identified the need to install a new access control infrastructure to improve site security, streamline operations, and ensure the system could grow with the venue.

Challenge
Theatr Clwyd’s chose to proceed with a PAC system which provides a modern infrastructure. The challenge was to install the new system without disrupting daily operations. The infrastructure needed to work seamlessly with the access readers, provide room for future expansion, and be installed in the communications room with minimal disruption.
Objectives
The primary goals for this infrastructure upgrade included:
Seamless Integration: Ensure the new controllers would function smoothly with the new access readers across the site.
Improved Efficiency: Optimise the new infrastructure for easier management and scalability.
Minimal Disruption: Carry out the upgrade with as little impact on daily operations as possible, particularly given the venue’s busy schedule.
Solution
Cablify, an experienced provider in access control systems, was chosen to carry out the upgrade. The solution involved:
Installation of New Controllers & Readers: All new PAC access control controllers & readers were installed in Theatr Clwyd’s site, providing a more robust and scalable infrastructure.
Cable Management: Cablify ensured a clean and organised installation by using metal trays in the comms room for cable management, improving both functionality and the overall appearance of the setup.
System Commissioning: The new controllers were commissioned to integrate with the new access readers, ensuring seamless communication across the venue.
Implementation Process
The installation was carefully planned and executed in stages to avoid disrupting the venue’s operations. Cablify worked closely with Theatr Clwyd’s facilities management team to:
Install and Configure: Ensure the new controllers & readers were properly installed and integrated.
Cable Management: Install metal trays to keep cables organised and tidy in the communications room.
Testing and Commissioning: Conduct thorough testing to ensure the system was fully operational and integrated with the site’s access requirements.
Results and Benefits
Enhanced Security: The upgrade has provided Theatr Clwyd with a more reliable and secure access control system, improving site security and simplifying personnel access management.
Operational Efficiency: The new infrastructure is more flexible and scalable, enabling easier management and future system upgrades.
Improved Infrastructure: The upgraded cable management and system infrastructure ensures better organisation, easier maintenance, and a longer system lifespan.
Minimal Disruption: The installation was carried out smoothly, with no significant disruption to ongoing events or daily operations.
Conclusion
The access control infrastructure upgrade at Theatr Clwyd, supported by Cablify, has greatly enhanced the security, functionality, and scalability of the venue’s access control system. The project successfully integrated modern controllers and readers with minimal disruption, providing a future-proof foundation for continued growth.
